How did you use a trite concept in an original by you? How does your composition and other artistic decisions make your art successful?
The trite symbol I used was a Yin-Yang sign which represents balance. I was inspired by the quote "half full half empty" and decided to draw a half dead tree and half alive tree representing balance. I wanted my art to be different but still relate to the quote and I thought that a half dead and half alive tree isn't a common as some of the other symbols or images that represents balance. There is lots of objects and images that represent balance and you don't picture a tree at first which makes the art work somewhat unique. I decided to use an acrylic medium because i thought i could get more texture and get more done in a smaller amount of time then color pencils. I think something that makes my art successful is the colors i used and the different of colors in the trees how its just not a plain green or a plain brown. Also there is texture in the ground that I used a sponge for to give it a different effect and give the ground more texture than a plane brown. There's also reds and purples in the background that gives a color difference in the ground. One thing that i think needs improvement if i were to paint the piece again would to be to do the background first and maybe change the color to make the tree pop more.
