What skills or techniques did you learn during this unit? How did you apply them in your work?
In this unit I learned how to draw a face that's more proportional to an actual face. I also learned the distances between the eyes, nose, and mouth, which helped me when making this figure. During this unit I also learned how to proportion the head and shoulders, when i first made this piece I made the shoulder to small and realized it wasn't proportional to the head. I applied these skills in my work by drawing with pencil first to make everything how i wanted and then went back over it in makeup.
How did you plan and create your artwork? What do you like about your work, is it successful?
Originally I was going to make my piece in lead/graphite and i wanted to do someone who was beautiful by having nice hair and makeup. I personally like the lead drawing I did in my sketchbook better but its a lot more creative and different to make a piece out of make up. I tried the piece in make up at home and loved the way it turned out so i decided to make my final in make up. The hair and body is foundation mixed with eye liner, the lashes and nose are eye liner, the lips are lipstick and liner, the eyeball is acrylic paint, and the background is acrylic paint. One thing I like about my artwork is that it's different and unique most people can't say they created an art piece out of make up. I think that my piece is successful because this is my second time drawing a face and from the first time it has improved a lot and I like the way it turned out even though some might not.
